.::Energy and environment:

The "Energy and Environment" International Scientific Conference has been organised every two years since 1998 by the Opole Branch. The aim of this conference is to exchange experiences between the spheres of science and industrial practice within the field of current and future manufacturing techniques employed in the following industries: ceramics, glass, construction materials and refractory materials.

The conference topics include:

  • modern technologies in the building materials, refractory materials, glass and ceramics industries;
  • energy consumption and ecology in the building materials, refractory materials, glass and ceramics industries;
  • waste raw materials and alternative fuels used in construction material technologies.

Conference participants represent Poland's leading universities and the Polish cement, lime, gypsum and glass industries as well as they include manufacturers of control-measuring equipment and instrumentation. Each conference features 30 - 40 scientific papers presented in a form of lectures or posters. The topics include: decrease in energy consumption during technological processes, utilisation of renewable and alternative energy sources as well as using waste raw materials and combustible waste. Other important issues include environmental protection and decreasing emissions of harmful gases from technological processes.

.::Refractory materials in metallurgy: manufacturing, methods of testing, application:

Since 1985, every two years (15th edition in 2013), the Refractory Materials Division has been organising the "Refractory materials: manufacture, methods of testing, application" International Scientific Conference. Its aim is to present the latest achievements in the field of the science of materials used for high-temperature applications, technologies of manufacturing and applying refractory materials as well as the methodology of testing such materials used for different metallurgic processes in iron and non-ferrous metals metallurgy.

The conference topics include:

  • natural and synthetic refractory materials,
  • current trends in manufacturing and application of refractory materials,
  • equipment and furnaces,
  • mew testing methods and quality control issues,
